Mr & Mrs Sutton, Bristol
"A bungalow might suit us better these days, but Reg will never
move".
Reg Sutton, aged 93, and his wife, Barbara, had both planned for a good retirement income, but agreed they would like a little more ready money.
There was no question of moving home. Their house was designed and built for Reg and he had no intention of ever leaving it.
The house has Reg's former electrical business including a workshop alongside and the rent provides one source of income for the couple. This proved to be a stumbling block for other equity release providers and only Home & Capital was flexible enough to advance them money against their home without a lot of fuss.
So successful was their first reversion - the Suttons sold 75% of the value of their home partly to fund a 3 month world cruise – that later they released more equity to pay for a conservatory built for Reg's 93rd birthday.
The Suttons still own 15% of the equity in their home and the value of their house continues to rise.
